Block model of a Chinese junk (river Guangtan) - ‘wai-wai’
Description
Ship model of a crooked stern junk, called ‘wai-wai’, somewhat smaller than the former type.
Model composed of two half blocks, with middle stop board and transverse bulkheads. Flat bottom. Forebody with somewhat bent, small flaring swim head which is built higher on the starboard side than on the port side. Stern with even, rather straight swim head, much higher on the starboard than on the port side. Moderate sheer. Forebody with two raised cuddy boards, a transverse beam, countersunk deck up to the cabin. Low midship deck house without windows. Rising countersunk afterdeck up to swim head. Deck house covered with matting. Right across a steering scaffold. A short and a long steering oar. No rudder.
