The Koolvliet, one of Antwerp's oldest city harbours, disappeared when the Scheldt quays were straightened out. When the old inner-city waterways were filled in, three new docks were dug and are known as the Zuiderdokken: the Kooldok, the Schippersdok and the Steendok.
