From 1835 onwards, the shipping company S.A. de Bateaux à Vapeur set up a shipping line between Antwerp and London. Ships such as the Baron Osy were propelled by two paddle wheels on opposite sides of the ship. They could therefore guarantee a rapid crossing in style.
