Block model of a Chinese junk (Fuzhou) - junk for sea fishing
Description
Ship model. On the basis of a label attached to the model, it can be identified as a junk for sea fishing. Crew of 4 fishermen. Because of the resemblance in shape to the previous models it is probably more of a riverine craft.
Excavated block model with transverse bulkheads. Flat bottom, fore and aft strongly rising. Fore connecting to a small, raking, straight swim head. Aft to a broad, strongly raking, horseshoe-shaped transom. Angular bilge. Rounded board. Strong sheer. Fore body open. Four transverse bulkheads with countersunk deck. Twice-raised sides up to the transom bulkhead with steering port. On each side four dented stanchions, one short for two roofs of bamboo matting. One steering oar. Swim head and transom painted.
