'Gyenzen' betekent in het Tibetaans "juweel om vast te haken". Aan de uiteinden van de zilveren siergordel zit een haakje waarmee hij in de rugschort van de vrouw wordt vastgehaakt, vaak bovenop een geweven gordel. De 85 cm lange ketting hangt vanaf het swastika-wieltje in een lus voor de onderbuik. Vervolgens keert deze, onder de gordel door, terug naar boven om bij de schouder met de "pauwespeld" vastgespeld te worden. De zilveren sierplaatjes zijn met goudfiligraan en turkooissteentjes bezet. De kwaliteit van het werk laat de hand van een Newari-edelsmid vermoeden. De traditionele gyenzen is zeldzaam geworden. Bij bepaalde feestelijkheden dragen sommige vrouwen nog wel eens zo'n traditionele 'gyenzen'; doorgaans een oud erfstuk
