"I remember a time when there were no scooters in Europe yet. however in Goma, there were already 'tshukudu' wooden, motorless scooters used for getting around. Even today, ther are still part of daily life for many people. In my imagination, the modern scooter is inspired by the tshukudu. That is why I created this artwork. The character is an elegangly dressed 'sapeur'. Instead of taking a car, he chooses the scooter. In 'sape' culture, it's important to be seen. The scooter allows him to get around while showcasing his style, elegance, and personality to those he passes." Moke Fils, 2026 (Bron: Katshiunga Gallery, Antwerpen, 2026).
