Model of a guard boat (Wuhan (Hankou)) - 'baochuan' / gun boat

Model of a patrol boat for service on the Yangtze / Chang Jiang. Generally known as 'baochuan' or gun boat.
Excavated block model, built of two half chocks and transverse bulkheads. Flat bottom, rising and ending in a flat swim head, broadened on top by two shoulders. Aft stretching a while, out rising, and ending in a steep flat V-shaped transom. Short rounded bilges, continuing in slightly rounded sides. Strakes run far beyond the transom forming below deck a long narrow rudder well with port-like stern, having two long, steep, broad lintels with two shoulders. Flat sheer. Deck corbelling over beam. Fore and after cuddy board rest on the shoulders of the swim head. Behind the fore cuddy board, and behind a heavy bow beam, a water beam and hatch opening with hatch cover. A second water beam in front of the long, open hatch with upright side coaming. Next to the hatch opening a gangway. Behind the hatch a transverse beam and a hatch opening with hatch cover. Deck house with a transversely arched roof. Deck house sideways and at the back surrounded by a bulwark, both carlines with holes to carry weapons and/or flags. Long narrow rudder blade. Mast with pale greyish cotton cloth sail with broad front strip and three narrower strips, all of which sewn together in a single or double tack stitch. Wooden gun on carriage.
