Ship model of a cargo junk. Capacity of 108 tons. Crew of 16 persons. According to the 'Catalogue' of 1905 (p. 46 no. 71) a 'dinyou' junk from Zhifu, but according to D. W. Waters a cargo junk from Dandong. Part of the roof of the deck house can be removed, erected over the tiller.
Model built on transverse bulkheads, planked. Longitudinally slightly rounded bottom, fore and aft rising and ending in a transversely planked swim head. Straight, flaring sides of wide board standing on top of the bottom. Heavy, double wale, running from the fore swim head up to the far end of the fake transom. Continuous flush deck protruding over the wale. Stern aft broadening in steeply rising bulwark. Outward ends of bulwark project from the swim head and are connected by a fake, slightly curved transom. Heavy bow timber with cathead. Bordered hatch in front of the foremast. The mast beam runs transversally over the deck from side to side. Vertical head ledge of hatch coaming with upright side coaming. Mainmast behind second hatch. Behind mainmast a hatch and another, raised box-like hatch. Behind the beam a deck house. Behind the deck house a heavy transom beam. Behind transom beam open up to the fake transom. Removable windlass above transom. On top of fake transom small cuddy board. Rudder with sharp upper corner. Three-masted rig with three red cotton cloth standing lugs. In de middle of the stem post a yin-yang symbol has been painted. Loose transom cut in lobes, painted red, on top of which a black frieze. Red mast partners. Topmast of mainmast red. Jigger mast with painted-on spiral black belt.
